A prayer for Thanksgiving – St. Augustine

Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy.

Act in me, O Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy.

Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit, that I love but what is holy.

Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit, to defend all that is holy.

Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, that I always may be holy.

Amen.

  1. good one. thanks Augie.

I’m glad you’re blogging again, too. I need to follow your example.

We need to catch up, too, just in general. (I guess if I’d’ve come to AAR we could have done just that.) I’ve accepted a Worship Pastor position at a nazarene church in Ohio, and we’re leaving nashville and moving up Dec. 1. that’s the big news…I’ll fill in the details later via email or phone.

Christ’s peace and our love to you and yours, and happy glut-, er, turkey day. It’s hard for me to take a holiday called Thanksgiving seriously when it doesn’t actually involve Eucharist.

  2. Wow… things change in little to no time dont they?! i think being back in worship leadership is such a great place for you in the interim of finding an academic post. A good place to center down and focus on the things that empower you. Please, PLEASE send a forwarding address and info on your thinking going into this.
