Picking the New Pope… good short story

The ubiquitous Dave Eggers edits a number of things (always a nice gig if you can get it!) in addition to the ‘must read it if you have a cool factor of 10’ literary journal McSweeny’s. He recently published a great collection with Viggo Mortenson called ‘The Best American Nonrequired Reading’ which has some great stuff in it including a couple graphic novella entries. It is timely to note that one short story in the collection focuses on the attempt by a rich American to campaign the Conclave at the Holy See into electing an American Pope – a Californian Archbishop who surfs nonetheless. Very funny and all-too-current…
